Prayer for the dead

O Jesus, who with your glorious Resurrection has shown us what the 'sons of God' will be forever, offer holy resurrection to our loved ones who died in your Grace, and to us in our hour. For the Sacrifice of your Blood, for the tears of Mary, for the merits of all the saints, open your Kingdom to their spirits. O Mother, whose heartbreak ended at Easter dawn before the Risen One and whose expectation to embrace your Son ceased in the joy of your glorious As, consoles our pain by freeing from pain those we love even beyond death, and prays for those of us who await the hour to find the embrace of those we lost. Martyrs and saints who in Heaven, turn a supplicant gaze to God, a fraternal gaze to the dead who explode, to pray to the LORD for them and to say to them, 'Behold, peace opens for you.' Delighted to us, dear to us, not lost but separated, may your prayers be for us the kiss we regret, and when for our suffrages you are free in Blessed Paradise with the saints, pr...

Adam and Eve

Adam and Eve Wherefore in that bright region he blew upon a white cloud, which had come forth from a beautiful human form and contained within itself many and many stars because, in that place of delight, Eve—whose soul was innocent, for she had been raised out of innocent Adam, bearing in her body the whole multitude of the human race, shining with God’s preordination—was invaded by the Devil through the seduction of the serpent for her own downfall. Why was this? Because he knew that the susceptibility of the woman would be more easily conquered than the strength of the man; and he saw that Adam burned so vehemently in his holy love for Eve that if he, the Devil, conquered Eve, Adam would do whatever she said to him. Hence the Devil cast out both the cloud and the human form from that region because that ancient seducer cast out Eve and Adam by his deception from the seat of blessedness and thrust them into the darkness of destruction.
